BINARY was a self-initiated Kickstarter campaign to fund and print a sci-fi comic book I wrote and illustrated. The goal was to create a premium-quality indie comic and grow my audience through a combination of storytelling, campaign strategy, and direct-to-reader marketing.
I developed the campaign from the ground up, writing the pitch, art directing all visuals, scripting and producing the trailer, and designing every campaign asset. I coordinated with a motion designer for the trailer, managed printing and fulfillment logistics, and built stretch goals to keep momentum high.
On the marketing side, I treated the campaign like a 30-day integrated brand push, creating daily social content, writing targeted DMs and newsletters, and crafting multiple narrative hooks to keep the algorithm from burying my reach. I leaned on humor, pop culture references, and a strong visual identity to drive engagement.
The result was 138% funding from 100 backers, surpassing our primary goal and unlocking stretch rewards. The campaign showcased my ability to combine brand storytelling, creative production, and project management to deliver a product from concept through fulfillment while building a community around the work.
